The Fanatics Sportsbook is going to be an extension of Fanatics Inc., a prominent player in official licensed merchandise from all of the major-league sports. The company holds a valuation of $27 billion.
Owner Michael Rubin recently divested himself of his ownership stake in the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, another indication that Fanatics is preparing to make its move and go live with its sports betting app very soon. In June of 2022, published reports began surfacing that Fanatics was negotiating to purchase the German-owned Tipico sportsbook. Tipico currently holds sports betting licenses in Colorado and New Jersey.
Fanatics has applied for a sports betting license in Ohio and failed in its bid to land a license in the first round of bidding in New York state. Certainly, with the presence of prominent New Yorker and music industry icon Jay-Z as vice-chairman, Fanatics will be in contention for one of the six New York licenses in the second round of offerings from the state.
Signup Bonus Offer
Since Fanatics hasn’t officially launched its sports betting site, any talk of a signup bonus would be pure speculation. It would be folly, though, to think that a company of this size and scope won’t be offering something similar to the major players in the industry, such as the $1500 risk-free bet at Caesars, or the $1000 matching first deposit bonus provided by DraftKings.
Again, again talk of Fanatics promotions at this stage would be nothing more than an educated guess. However, it should only be logical to expect that with such a vast array of sports-related products that Fanatics will be inducing customers with some semblance of promotional offers connecting to their supply of officially licensed merchandise.
No sportsbook is going to succeed without delivering all the same bet types as the competition. Count on Fanatics to heavily populate their site with live in-play wagering and parlay plays, two of the most popular betting types in the sports betting industry.
Added to that will be all the standard straight bets such as moneylines, run lines, puck lines, point spreads, totals (over/under), as well as exotics including props, futures bets, round robins and teasers.
Fanatics hold licenses as an official merchandiser for the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL, so you can be sure that those betting markets will be covered in depth. But their scope hardly stops there. Fanatics also has merchandising deals with the MLS, Formula 1, WWE, soccer leagues such as the EPL, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and dozens of national sides. They also offer products in rugby, MotoGP, golf, cycling, the Olympic Games and esports.
Considering all of their connections in the sporting world, anticipate that Fanatics will be tailoring betting offers that connect the two worlds – sports betting and officially licensed merchandise. Their connections in the music world through such powerful performers as Jay-Z and Meek Mill will give Fanatics a presence in pop culture that many sportsbooks can only dream about gaining.
