DraftKings launched in New York alongside FanDuel on January 8, 2022. Four years on, the two are close to level: DraftKings took $9.21 billion in New York bets in 2025, per NY State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) reports, just $239 million behind FanDuel.
In August 2026, it went ahead. DraftKings handled $614.0 million to FanDuel’s $599.6 million.
Our rating is 9.1 out of 10. DraftKings scores top marks for parlay tools, a rewards program with real tiers and a welcome offer that needs one $5 bet. It sits just behind FanDuel on revenue share and because its bonus pays out slowly, over 21 days.
DraftKings NY welcome bonus: Bet $5, Get $200 in Bonus Bets
Deposit $5, place a $5 first bet, and DraftKings issues $200 in bonus bets. Win or lose, the bonus is the same.
The catch is the schedule. The $200 arrives as eight $25 bonus bets, two at a time, on days 0, 7, 14 and 21. The later drops are click-to-claim, so you have to open the app and accept them.
Claiming DraftKings’ $200 in bonus bets

What the DraftKings fine print says
- 7-day expiry per drop. Each $25 bonus bet expires 168 hours after it’s issued.

- NBA League Pass auto-renews. The 3-month code must be redeemed by December 19, 2026, and the subscription rolls over unless you cancel.

A worked example
Say you place your $5 qualifier on the Giants on a Sunday. Two $25 bonus bets land straight away; you put both on +150 picks and one wins, paying $37.50 in cash. A week later the next pair is ready to claim, and so on through day 21. Your total outlay stays at $5.

Deep props for the Giants, Knicks and the rest of New York
Every New York franchise has a full menu at DraftKings: Yankees and Mets, Giants, Jets and Bills, Knicks and Nets, Rangers, Islanders and Sabres. Player props run deep on NFL and NBA games, with alternate lines and live markets.
DraftKings’ edge is parlay variety:
- Same Game Parlays and SGPx combine props in one game, or across several.
- Progressive parlays still pay, at reduced odds, if a leg misses.
- Flash Bet offers rapid-fire in-game markets, such as the result of the next play.
- Profit boosts add a percentage to selected bets’ winnings.
Bets the state keeps off the board
State law bans bets on any New York college team, home or away, so Syracuse and St. John’s are off the board. College player props are prohibited too. College tournaments stay open, minus any game with a NY school.
Props and SGPs face scrutiny. The NYSGC invited leagues in February 2026 to request bet restrictions, and its chair said in March it “could consider banning proposition bets entirely.” Nothing has changed yet.

DraftKings’ wider New York footprint is unusual. It also runs a permitted daily fantasy sports product, the DK Horse racing app and the Jackpocket lottery courier, all owned by DraftKings.
Getting money in and out of DraftKings
The minimum deposit is $5. Accepted methods:

DraftKings Dynasty Rewards: Crowns, tiers and what they buy
Dynasty Rewards runs on two currencies. Every bet earns DK Crowns, which you spend, and Tier Credits, which move you up five tiers from Bronze to Onyx. Higher tiers earn Crowns faster.
Crowns redeem for bonus bets and other perks. Because the program spans the sportsbook, fantasy and other DraftKings products, New Yorkers who also play DFS build status faster.
It’s a more mature program than FanDuel’s Rewards Club, which launched only in September 2026. It is less valuable off-app than Caesars Rewards, which pays out in hotel nights and dining.

DraftKings and FanDuel took about 76% of New York’s 2025 sportsbook revenue between them. The gap between the two is mostly in what they keep. DraftKings held 9.3% of bets in 2025, close to the 9.7% market average, against FanDuel’s 11.7%.
That’s why DraftKings trails on revenue ($855M vs $1.10B) despite near-identical volume. At New York’s 51% tax rate, its 2025 revenue meant roughly $436 million for the state.
