Resorts World Bet, the Genting-owned mobile sportsbook, announced its exit from New York on Jun 9, 2025, in a message to customers and a post on X. The timeline was short:

The NY State Gaming Commission’s weekly data for the brand ends with the week of Jun 22, 2025. Every week since is blank.

Is there a Resorts World Bet promo code or new user promo today? No. The app is closed, there are no new sign-ups, and any code you find online is out of date.

Customers were told to settle outstanding wagers and withdraw their money before the deadlines. “We encourage you to take action on any outstanding wagers or withdrawals before these dates to avoid any disruptions,” the company posted on X.

The NY State Gaming Commission said it had “no objection” to the wind-down plan submitted by Empire Resorts, the Genting company behind the app, according to SBC Americas. The plan itself wasn’t made public, and the company didn’t respond to press requests for comment, so how open futures bets were handled was never spelled out.

If you missed the Jun 22 cutoff and still had money in the account, trade press reports say customers should contact the company directly. It’s also worth searching the New York State Comptroller’s unclaimed funds database, and you can raise an unresolved case with the NY State Gaming Commission, which licensed the operator.

Why Resorts World Bet failed in New York

The company never gave a reason. The numbers explain it.

Resorts World Bet launched in March 2022, two months after the market opened. From then through May 2025, it took $263.3 million in bets and about $17.7 million in revenue, according to NYSGC data cited by Legal Sports Report and InGame. That was under 0.3% of New York’s online handle over the period.

Its share never reached 1% of monthly handle, according to InGame. FanDuel alone took $803 million in May 2025.

New York’s tax made it worse. The state takes 51% of sportsbook revenue, the highest rate in the country, so a small operator keeps less than half of a small number. Resorts World Bet was the third original licensee to leave New York, after WynnBet and PointsBet.

Its license didn’t disappear, though. The NYSGC still lists Resorts World Bet among its licensed operators, but only 8 mobile sportsbooks are live in New York today.

The Queens casino is booming: Resorts World NYC

Don’t confuse the app with the casino. Resorts World New York City, next to the old Aqueduct racetrack in Ozone Park, Queens, is a separate business, and it’s thriving.

It won one of three downstate casino licenses in December 2025 and opened as New York City’s first full casino on Apr 28, 2026, with more than 200 live table games and more than 2,500 slots. Another 1,400 slots arrived on Jul 21, and work on Phase Two of its $5.5 billion expansion, with a new hotel tower and a 7,000-seat arena, broke ground in July.

The money is on another scale. According to NY State Gaming Commission reports, Resorts World NYC made $29.4 million in gaming revenue in the single week ending Oct 11, 2026, and $707.3 million in the fiscal year that began April 1. One week of casino revenue beats the sportsbook’s entire 3-year lifetime.
