theScore Bet is run by PENN Entertainment through Penn Sports Interactive, LLC. The license started life as WynnBet’s, which PENN bought for $25 million in February 2024, according to InGame. It launched as ESPN Bet on Sep 26, 2024.

Our score is 7.2 out of 10. theScore Bet earns points for one of the state’s best-rated apps, with live scores and stats built into the betting screen. It loses them for no confirmed New York welcome offer, a shrinking market share, no advertised NY loyalty program and no official payout times.

ESPN Bet NY is now theScore Bet: what changed

PENN and ESPN ended their 10-year, $1.5 billion sportsbook deal early in November 2025. PENN set Dec 1, 2025, as the switch date, and NYSGC reports say “ESPN Bet was rebranded as theScore Bet as of week ending 12/07/2025.”

If you had an ESPN Bet account, nothing was lost. According to Covers, your login and password still work, your balance moved over automatically, open bets stayed live, and the ESPN Bet app updated itself into theScore Bet.

ESPN, meanwhile, signed DraftKings as its official sportsbook and odds provider. So if you search “ESPN Bet NY” today, the answer has two parts: the ESPN app now links to DraftKings, while your old ESPN Bet account lives on as theScore Bet.

theScore itself is a Toronto-built sports media app that PENN owns. Its scores, stats and news sit next to the betting markets, which is the brand’s whole pitch.

theScore Bet NY welcome bonus: no confirmed New York offer right now

theScore Bet has no confirmed New York welcome offer right now. New customers should check the theScore Bet app for current NY promotions before they deposit.

Where to checktheScore Bet app, while in New York

Opening a theScore Bet account in New York

  1. Download theScore Bet app while physically in New York. You must be 21+.
  2. Register and verify your identity.
  3. Check the app for current NY promotions before you deposit.
  4. Deposit at least $10 and place your first bet.

There’s one big catch for former ESPN Bet customers. PENN’s new-customer offers are generally for people who have never deposited with a PENN sportsbook. If you funded an ESPN Bet account, you’re not new to PENN, so you generally can’t claim a theScore Bet new-customer offer.

Want a sign-up bonus? Where the rivals stand

If a welcome offer matters to you, other New York books have confirmed ones. FanDuel pays $350 in bonus bets for seven $5 bets, DraftKings pays $200 in bonus bets for one $5 bet, and Bally Bet pays $50 in bonus bets on a $10 first bet. BetRivers’ Second Chance Bet up to $100 refunds a losing first bet in bonus bets.

Scores, stats and odds on New York’s 10 pro teams

All 10 major NY pro teams get full markets: the Yankees and Mets, Giants, Jets and Bills, Knicks and Nets, and the Rangers, Islanders and Sabres. Same-game parlays, player props, futures and live betting are standard, with odds and parlay boosts running through the week.

The integration is what sets it apart. Live scores and stats sit inside the betting app, so you can follow a Knicks game and bet the next quarter without switching apps. Cash out is offered on many in-play bets.

New York’s college rules apply. No bets on games involving a New York college team, anywhere, and no college player props, according to PML §1367 and NYSGC guidance.

The NY State Gaming Commission has been reviewing player props and same-game parlays since November 2025. No ban was in place as of October 2026.

4.8 stars from 223,000 ratings: inside theScore Bet’s app

The NY app rates 4.8 on the App Store from about 223,000 ratings, and the listing names New York. Only FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM and Fanatics have more ratings among NY books.

The live-betting screen is the strongest part, built around theScore’s real-time data feed.

The weak spots: theScore Bet doesn’t advertise live streaming or a loyalty program for New York, two features BetRivers and Fanatics both lean on.

Paying in with PayPal, Play+ or ACH at theScore Bet

Deposits run through debit card, PayPal, Play+, online banking and ACH eCheck, starting at $10.

theScore Bet doesn’t publish official withdrawal times in New York. Fox Sports says most methods process within 24–72 hours.

Boosts, not points: theScore Bet’s loyalty gap

theScore Bet doesn’t advertise a points-based loyalty program for New York. What you get instead is a rotating set of odds boosts and parlay boosts in the app.

That’s a real gap. FanCash at Fanatics, iRush Rewards at BetRivers and Caesars Rewards all pay back regular bettors. At theScore Bet, the value is in the boosts.

Life after ESPN: theScore Bet’s handle and revenue

According to NY State Gaming Commission reports, this license took $591.0 million in bets in calendar 2025 and kept $42.5 million in gross gaming revenue. Almost all of that came under the ESPN Bet name.

Since the rebrand, the numbers have shrunk. August 2026 brought $24.2 million in handle and $2.0 million in revenue, about 1.4% of the state market. That’s under half of the license’s 2025 monthly average of $49 million. Statewide handle in August was about 79% of 2025’s monthly average, so seasonality explains only part of the drop.

The latest week, ending Oct 11, 2026, showed $7.5 million in handle. theScore Bet ranks 7th of 8 live NY books by handle, ahead of only Bally Bet.

What it means for you: losing ESPN’s promotion cost the brand volume. PENN has said it’s refocusing on online casino and Canada. So far, it hasn’t answered with a confirmed New York welcome offer.

The weekly figures are in the NYSGC theScore Bet report.

Where theScore Bet scores and where it slips

Pros – 4.8-star iOS app with built-in live scores and stats – Cash out on many in-play bets – ESPN Bet accounts carried over automatically

Cons – No confirmed New York welcome offer right now – No advertised NY loyalty program or live streaming – Handle down by half from its 2025 monthly average

Up against DraftKings and BetRivers: how theScore Bet fares

Against DraftKings Sportsbook NY, ESPN’s new partner, theScore Bet is the underdog. DraftKings took $614 million in NY bets in August 2026, 25 times theScore Bet’s handle, and pays “Bet $5, Get $200 in Bonus Bets (paid over 21 days) + 3 Months of NBA League Pass.” theScore Bet’s case rests on its scores-and-stats app, not a sign-up bonus.

Against BetRivers NY, theScore Bet is the smaller book: BetRivers took about 50% more in August 2026. BetRivers also has a confirmed welcome offer, a Second Chance Bet up to $100 with 30 days to use it, and adds iRush Rewards and live streaming.
