Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady NY: sportsbook, poker, hotel and hours guide

Schenectady’s 24/7 casino on Mohawk Harbor

Rivers Casino & Resort is one of five upstate commercial casinos licensed by the NY State Gaming Commission. It opened in February 2017 on Mohawk Harbor, a redeveloped industrial site on the Mohawk River, and it never closes: the casino says it’s “Open 24/7, 365.”

Chicago-based Rush Street Gaming runs it. Its sister company, Rush Street Interactive, runs BetRivers, the sportsbook brand on the floor and on your phone.

1,150 slots, 67 tables and a High Limit Room

The casino lists 1,150 slot machines and “over 67” live table games, from blackjack to craps. There’s also a separate High Limit Room.

The poker room opens at 10 a.m. daily. Online poker isn’t legal in New York, which makes live rooms like this one of the few ways to play for real money in the Capital Region.

BetRivers Sportsbook, where legal NY sports betting began

Rivers’ sportsbook took the first legal sports bet in New York on July 16, 2019, two and a half years before mobile betting launched statewide. It now trades as the BetRivers Sportsbook, which the casino calls “New York’s premier sports betting destination.”

It’s the same brand as the BetRivers mobile app, one of eight sportsbook apps live in New York in 2026. Read our BetRivers NY review for how the app compares.

New York law applies at the counter: no bets on New York college teams, and no player props on college games.

Using betting apps inside Rivers: allowed

Rivers is a commercial casino, not tribal land, so the geofence that blocks apps at Seneca, Oneida and Mohawk casinos doesn’t apply here. If you’re 21+ and physically in New York, you can bet on any licensed app from the casino floor or your hotel room. See all of them in our best NY sportsbooks guide.

What a “Rivers Casino promo code” gets you in New York

A lot of people search for a Rivers Casino promo code. Know what you’re getting:

• Online casino: BetRivers’ online casino runs in other states, but online casino games are not legal in New York. Any BetRivers casino code you see won’t work here. Our NY casino law guide explains why.
• In person: Rivers Schenectady runs its own on-site offers, such as slot play for new Rush Rewards members. Terms are set by the casino and change often.
• Sportsbook app: current BetRivers sportsbook offers for New York are on our BetRivers review.

The Landing Hotel at Rivers Casino Schenectady

The Landing Hotel, at 21 Rush Street, connects directly to the casino and overlooks Mohawk Harbor. Rooms include king rooms and suites, and some rooms are dog-friendly under its “Paws & Relax” policy. The Landing Bar and a Starbucks are in the building, and the hotel offers secured self-parking.

Dukes Chophouse and the rest of the Rivers dining lineup

• Dukes Chophouse: the steakhouse
• Van Slyck’s: a bar that hosts events such as the casino’s Thanksgiving Eve party
• Quick bites for a fast meal off the floor

The Event Center hosts live entertainment, and the resort’s ballroom and meeting rooms take weddings and conferences.

Rush Rewards: points, trips and cruises

The loyalty program is Rush Rewards. Members earn on their play, and the casino says cardholders can book an annual trip to Atlantis Paradise Island and sail with MSC Cruises through the program.
