What is Totals Betting?

The Totals bet is a great alternative to Moneyline wagers. Instead of betting on which team or player will win, you simply bet on how many points will be scored during a game. More specifically, you bet on whether the total points or goals will be over or under the sportsbook’s point. 

Example: Milwaukee Bucks are playing at Boston Celtics. The sportsbook sets the Totals mark at:

Over 212.0 points: -110
Under 212.0 points: -110

Therefore, if the game finished 103-101, the total would be 204. The Under 212 bet would therefore win. It doesn’t matter who wins the game, just the total number of points. 

A Totals bet is great if you like following high-scoring sides (or low-scoring ones). You can make a bet based on the knowledge of which sides are likely to rack up the slam dunks and big touchdowns.
