The short answer: BetMGM has no welcome bonus in New York right now. Its national sign-up offers carry fine print that excludes New York, and BetMGM’s own NY promotions page shows only BetMGM Rewards enrolment.
So if you’ve searched for a BetMGM New York promo code, there’s nothing to enter. Codes you’ll see on other sites, including old “up to $1,500” first-bet codes, apply in other states or have expired.
Why there’s no BetMGM welcome bonus code in New York
BetMGM hasn’t said why it leaves New York out. What we can say is what the market looks like.
New York taxes sportsbook revenue at 51%. BetMGM took $1.92 billion in New York bets in 2025, per the NY State Gaming Commission, about a fifth of what FanDuel or DraftKings took. In August 2026 its share of New York handle was 6.9%.
For you, the practical point is simple: a BetMGM account in New York is a product choice, not a bonus play.
Signing up with BetMGM in NY without a promo code
You can still open an account; you just won’t get a sign-up offer.
- Download the BetMGM app while physically in New York.
- Register with your name, address, date of birth and the last 4 digits of your SSN. Leave any promo code field blank.
- Deposit at least $10.
- You’re enrolled in BetMGM Rewards automatically and earn points from your first bet.
Existing BetMGM customers: what an offer code gets you
Here’s what we could confirm for New York accounts.
BetMGM Rewards. This is the one standing offer on BetMGM’s NY promotions page. Sports bets earn at least 20 points per $100 on straight bets and at least 50 per $100 on parlays. Each point adds a Tier Credit toward the same five tiers as MGM Rewards: Sapphire, Pearl, Gold, Platinum and NOIR.
MGM Resorts value. Points redeem for bonus bets or MGM Resorts experiences. Tier status is shared with MGM Rewards, and MGM owns Empire City Casino in Yonkers.
In-app promotions. Any NY-eligible boosts or sport-specific promos appear in the app’s Promotions tab after you log in. They rotate, and BetMGM doesn’t publish them on its public NY page, so we don’t list them here.
The app, banking and rewards are covered in our BetMGM Sportsbook NY review.
Is BetMGM Rewards worth joining without a welcome deal?
It depends on how much you bet and how often you visit MGM properties. At the baseline rate, $1,000 in straight bets earns 200 points and 200 Tier Credits. Reaching Pearl, the first tier above Sapphire, takes 20,000 Tier Credits in a calendar year: about $100,000 in straight bets or $40,000 in parlays on sports alone.
Higher tiers earn faster (10% at Pearl, 20% at Gold, 30% at Platinum), and in-person play and stays at MGM resorts count toward the same total. For a casual bettor, the rewards are a bonus on top, not a reason to choose BetMGM.
Will an NJ or PA BetMGM sign-up code work in the Empire State?
No. BetMGM sets offers by state, and the one you can claim depends on where you are when you sign up and bet. Every bet is geolocated, so an offer advertised for New Jersey or Pennsylvania can’t be used from New York.
BetMGM no deposit and referral code: the NY situation
No no-deposit offer is available to New York customers. Casino no-deposit offers don’t apply either: BetMGM Casino can’t operate in New York because online casinos aren’t legal here.
We couldn’t confirm a BetMGM refer-a-friend offer for New York. BetMGM advertises referral bonuses in other states; check the Refer a Friend section of the NY app before you rely on one.
New user code alternatives: rival welcome offers to claim today
If a welcome offer is the goal, these New York sportsbooks have one right now:
| Sportsbook | Offer | Promo Code |
|---|---|---|
| FanDuel | Get $350 in Bonus Bets When You Wager $5 for 7 Days | No Promo Code needed |
| DraftKings | Bet $5, Get $200 in Bonus Bets (paid over 21 days) + 3 Months of NBA League Pass | No Promo Code needed |
| Caesars | Bet $1, Double Your Winnings 10x (10 x 100% Profit Boosts) | CZRDYW |
| theScore Bet | No confirmed NY offer right now | — |
| Bally Bet | Bet $10, Get $50 in Bonus Bets | No Promo Code needed |
Closest match to BetMGM: Caesars. Like BetMGM, it’s a casino-resort brand, and Caesars Rewards credits pay out in hotel nights, dining and shows. Unlike BetMGM, it has a New York sign-up offer.
Most bonus bets for your money: FanDuel. $350 for seven $5 bets, win or lose.
Simplest: DraftKings. One $5 bet gets $200 in bonus bets, paid over 21 days.
There’s nothing stopping you holding several NY accounts. Claim a welcome offer elsewhere and keep BetMGM for its rewards. Every live deal is on our NY sportsbook promos page, and all current codes are on our NY promo codes hub.
