NY Online Casinos & iGaming
Online casino gambling (iGaming) and online poker remain illegal in New York as of 2026. However, legislation is actively being considered for the 2026-2027 session.

- ⏱Possible 2026-2027
- 📅Updated 2026
Real-money online slots, table games, and poker are currently prohibited in New York. Any website claiming to offer legal online casino games in NY (outside of brick-and-mortar casinos) is operating illegally.
NYC’s First Full Casino Has Officially Opened in Queens
Resorts World New York City cut the ribbon on the city’s first full-scale commercial casino on April 28, 2026, expanding its South Ozone Park property at Aqueduct Racetrack with more than 200 live table games — including blackjack, craps, baccarat and roulette — alongside its existing slots floor.
Resorts World is one of three operators selected for the long-awaited downstate casino licenses. The state projects the three new venues could generate up to $7 billion in gaming tax revenue over the next decade. This expansion is land-based only — it does not legalize online casino play in New York.
2026 Legislation Watch
Tracking the key bills that could legalize online casinos in New York
Senate Bill S2614
This bill would authorize online casino gaming including slots, table games, and poker. It proposes licensing fees and a tax structure similar to sports betting (51% tax rate).
👥Key Opposition
Union representing casino workers at brick-and-mortar venues concerned about job losses
Resorts World, MGM Empire City concerned about online competition
Concerns about increased accessibility and addiction risks
⚠Sweepstakes Casinos: Also Banned
As of late 2025, New York explicitly closed the “sweepstakes casino” loophole. Governor Hochul signed legislation banning these platforms, and the Attorney General issued cease-and-desist orders.
Any “social casino” claiming to offer real cash redemption in NY in 2026 is operating in direct violation of state law and is risky to use.
