From quarter horse track to commercial casino
Tioga Downs began as a quarter horse track that raced from 1976 to 1979, then sat empty for two decades. Jeff Gural, who also runs the Meadowlands in New Jersey, bought it in 2000, brought back live racing and added slot-style video lottery terminals. In 2016, it added full table games.
Today it is one of five upstate commercial casinos licensed by the NY State Gaming Commission, listed as Tioga Downs Casino, Racing & Entertainment in Nichols, Tioga County. The whole property is 100% smoke-free.

According to the casino:

Harness racing at Tioga Downs: a 5/8-mile track, May to September
Tioga Downs races Standardbreds on a 5/8-mile oval from May to September. Its stakes calendar includes:

Hotel, spa and golf at Tioga Downs
The hotel has 160 rooms and suites with inside access to the casino. Guests get:
- An indoor heated saltwater pool, arcade and game area
- An outdoor water slide with a plunge pool, and the Cabana Pool
- Serenity Spa for hair, massage, facials and nails
The RV park is open April 1 to November 1, with a 7-night limit.

Driving to Tioga Downs: valet and parking
Self-parking is on site, and valet costs $8. VIP and Elite Club members get valet without charge. Valet runs 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, until 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday.
Nichols is in the Southern Tier, just off Route 17 (I-86) near the Pennsylvania border, between Binghamton and Elmira.
