New York’s first casino, 33 years later

Turning Stone opened in July 1993 on Oneida Nation land in Verona, the first legal casino in New York. It now covers more than 3,400 acres off Thruway Exit 33, with a gaming floor of about 125,000 square feet.

The Oneida Indian Nation owns and runs it through Turning Stone Enterprises, which also operates Yellow Brick Road Casino in Chittenango and Point Place Casino in Bridgeport.

Slots, tables and bingo: 2,000 machines and 66 games

According to the resort, the floor holds:

  • More than 2,000 slot machines, including progressives and high-limit slots
  • 66 table games: blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat and carnival games
  • High Stakes Bingo, which Turning Stone says was ranked No. 1 in New York in 2024

Play is tracked on the TS Rewards card, which also works at YBR and Point Place.

A 32-table poker room and WSOP Circuit stops

The poker room has 32 tables. In 2018, the resort said it seated up to 320 players. Turning Stone hosts World Series of Poker Circuit events, most recently Oct. 15–26, 2026, with more than $3 million guaranteed.

Online poker isn’t legal in New York, so live rooms like this are the only legal way to play for real money in the state. Our NY online poker guide explains the law.

TS Sports at NY Rec & Social Club

Turning Stone dropped its Caesars-branded sportsbook in December 2023 and took betting in-house as TS Sports. The new home, NY Rec & Social Club, opened Dec. 18, 2023, in the former LAVA Nightclub space, according to Casino.org. It has:

  • A betting counter and self-service kiosks
  • A three-story “media tower” with 60 TVs
  • Pool, darts, foosball and shuffleboard, plus a bar and restaurant

In August 2025, the Oneida Nation signed Kambi to supply the retail sportsbook platform at all three of its casinos, replacing Scientific Games, according to SBC Americas.

The house rules set the betting age at 18. Under New York rules, TS Sports takes no bets on New York college teams and no player props on any college game. You can build a bet on your phone and have the QR code scanned at the counter.

The tribal geofence: why apps stall on Oneida land

You can’t count on placing a bet with a state-licensed app while you’re on Oneida land. The sponsor memo for Senate bill S10470 says mobile platforms already use geofencing to block “tribal jurisdictions.” Bet at the TS Sports counter or kiosks on site. Off Nation land, the licensed apps take bets from anyone 21+ who is in New York; compare them in our best NY sportsbooks guide.

The Lodge, the Tower and the new Crescent: Turning Stone’s hotels

Turning Stone’s 2018 fact sheet listed 707 rooms across four hotels:

The Inn (budget) 59

The Crescent Hotel added 258 rooms and suites on June 29, 2026, according to Indian Gaming, with indoor links to the gaming floor, Event Center and Showroom. Salt Seafood & Raw Bar opened on its seventh floor. The Grand Expo convention space followed on Labor Day 2026, taking meeting space to about 200,000 square feet, and a new 1,600-space garage doubled indoor parking.
