Batavia Downs 2026: 62 cards from July 22

Batavia Downs opened its 2026 meet on Wednesday, July 22, the first of 62 cards. The track bills itself as the oldest lighted harness track in North America.

The schedule:

  • Through mid-August: Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Mid-August to the end of the year: Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday
  • Post time: 5 p.m. for most cards; 12:15 p.m. for the four summer Sunday matinees, Labor Day (Sept. 7) and Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day (Oct. 12)

In 2025 the Gaming Commission approved four extra December nights, pushing the meet to Dec. 20. Check the track’s site for the final 2026 dates.

Big nights at Batavia: Sire Stakes and the Kane Memorial

Batavia hosted eight New York Sire Stakes stops in 2026, between July 22 and Sept. 2. The $50,000 Robert J. Kane Memorial Pace went on Aug. 22.

Slots and rooms: the Batavia Downs gaming floor and hotel

Batavia Downs Gaming is a video lottery facility licensed by the NY State Gaming Commission, with more than 946 games. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday to Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday to Sunday.

What’s not here: live table games and a sportsbook. In New York, retail sports betting is limited to commercial and tribal casinos. The nearest are the Seneca Nation’s casinos in the Buffalo area, including Seneca Buffalo Creek.

The property has its own hotel, and WROTB told the Rotary Club of Batavia that occupancy is above 87%.

Expansion tops the 2026 agenda at Batavia

WROTB is a public benefit corporation owned by 17 member municipalities in Western New York. Its president and CEO is former Buffalo mayor Byron Brown.

Brown told the Rotary Club of Batavia that expansion is the corporation’s top priority for 2026. The plan under study is a larger hotel plus a conference and events center. The board hired Spectrum Gaming Group for a market analysis capped at $39,500. Because the state doesn’t fund hotels but does fund event space, WROTB is pitching the project around the events center.

The money is moving the right way. WROTB paid its member municipalities more than $8.2 million through November 2025, and a June 2025 cut in the state’s video lottery tax rate, from 49% to 44%, added about $2.3 million, according to the Daily News of Batavia.

Batavia by car: Park Road, just off I-90

Batavia sits in Genesee County, roughly halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, and the track is on Park Road just off the New York State Thruway (I-90). Most visitors drive.

Betting Batavia’s harness cards from home

You can bet Batavia from home through a licensed ADW app. TVG, TwinSpires, DK Horse, Xpressbet and AmWager all take New York customers, according to the NY State Gaming Commission. Harness coverage varies, so check each app’s track list. Compare them in our online horse betting guide, or see the AmWager review.

WROTB also runs off-track betting branches across Western New York.
